Day 1: Wednesday June 8

Here we go ladies!

Are your fridges stocked with portable protein and veggies? Cabinets cleared of left over convention candy?

Today stick to your eating plan of choice and check in before bed with how you did and if you got any exercise in.

Feel free to post any additional comments each day on how hard or easy it was for you and what you thought contributed to that. All the feedback to relate to will help us all.

Congratulations for showing up. It's all down-scale from here!

...stay tuned for before pic's next week (email: rowmandy@sbcglobal.net) by Friday), recipes, exercise ideas, snack tip's, and more.

  2. (This is Michelle) Day one! Took my "before" pictures and bought some exercise videos at the Goodwill. (Yes I got Richard Simmons!) My diet plan is Weight Watchers/ low carb foods. My daily diet goal is "30 points", using the old WW way of calculating. I have consumed exactly 30 points as of 10:30 pm. I just need to make it til bedtime. I have been hungry all day, but after looking at my "before" pictures, I am more determined than ever. :) I am going to go ahead and list my weight: 192!! My goal is 20 pounds..172. Thank you to Rowena for setting this up and helping me go to "The Farm"

  3. Ok.. so for me Day 1 was a little mentally challenging. Restriction is never fun and slightly irritating. :) I was able to have no sugar, except the slight amount in a korean bbq marinade. I had a little sweet craving but had grapes and stole a baby size apple juice from Olivia to keep me on track. I did keep to my no gluten and dairy plan. Stuck with rice and Ezekiel Life brand "bread".
Exercise was 2, 800 meter runs followed by 4, 200 meter sprints. Doesn't sound fun? Wasn't. Well..I do like myself a sprint versus a distance run.. Michelle.. that means something about my genome doesn't it!!! You gotta tell me...

All in all a good enough day 1. A little nervous about a family visit and dinner in Monterey this Saturday.. already talking about fried shrimp and a Ghiradelli stop :( That's going to be tough..One day at a time!

  4. Yahhhhooo!!! Great job Michelle! I am so proud of you!! You did it. Day 1.

    CHECK

Now drink water and go to bed. Have I already mentioned that it's been tested that getting less sleep leads to consuming more calories in the day and more sleep leads to weight loss?

  5. hI, so I didnt get to post last night :( crazy day.. but no more excuses.. gotta make time, this is gonna be encouraging for all of us. I guess I wasn't as prepared as i thought! I need a good breakfast idea.. woke up to bagels n cream cheese/olives in fridge.. NOT GOOD! I was good thou. Yes, the thought of not eating carbs like I do and my daily chocolate binge is already making me frustrated and irritable!! Lunch was salame (i know not a good choice but all i had in fridge) & cheese with avocado. Dinner I roasted a pork loin, carrots, string beans and potatoes - I didn't eat the potatoes (ok just one bite - i tell you, this is really hard for me). Im going to get a low-cal cereal like Kashi, or the Ezekiel bread too. Protein in a rush on bread? PB - too fattening right?

Exercise - didnt make it out, but i did run up and down the stairs a ton! Will get out.. we too have company coming tomorrow for the weekend, so i'm running around trying to get this house picked up.

Im gonna take a pic this am and send it to you Row. My weight is 141 and I would like to be 130 again.

  7. It seems to be so helpful already just to have some accountability. Good job people! Perfection is not possible, but consistency gets results. Keep on keeping on!

  8. Okay, I am late too(Dayla), I'm having a hard time gearing up mentally for this. I'm not sure I am up for this but I'm really going to try to get in gear! Yesterday was sort of up and down. I started out pretty good, having chorizo and eggs, no tortilla. lunch was chicken salad with a few crackers and dinner was fish! Big step for me! I'm really going to try for portion control, cut way down on bread-so hard for me, I'm a major addict! And try to cut out as much sugar/bad fat as possible. Row, i think I'm going to try to get the portable almond butter you had (where was that again) and some better bread, I guess I'll get on the Ezekiel wagon too. Usually for breakfast I can do scrambled eggs with cheese. I did work in the yard yesterday-hauling wheelbarrow of dirt and going up and down the hill, so I'm counting 1 block for that since it was about 2 hours.

  9. Whoohoo!! Great job Dayla! Welcome! and yes, you deserve that block for sure with all that wheelbarrow'n.
Aptos Natural foods and Staff of life, (can't remember if New Leaf does..) have the almond butter packets. yummm they have them with maple too but those are extra sweet (calories).

  10. Ok so I'm finally posting. I didn't go over my "points" for this day, since I'm posting a few days later I can't exactly remember exactly what I ate, but I was hungry ALL day ( I do remember that!) I weigh about 172.4. I normally weigh 165, but recently gained some weight :O So ideally I would like to get to 159.0. I'm going to be doing a low carb/weight watchers diet. No exercise today.
